Spencer was born and raised in Los Angeles before moving to Seattle in 1989 to be closer to the outdoors. Through exploring the landscape of Washington, Alaska, and Canada, he became passionate about the environment and how it has been impacted by man-made climate change. A self-taught oil painter, Frazer's work communicates a tension between humanity and the natural world through highly detailed, imaginative landscapes that interweave stories with subliminal imagery. These pressing issues are showcased through a unique visual language characterized by mysticism and totemic symbols, sources of inspiration from the Pacific Northwest's rich artistic and cultural history.
His work is collected regionally and has been shown internationally, winning top awards along the way. He was the Artist in Residence at Artsfund, one of the leading art organizations in the Northwest. His work has been seen on national news features that include CBS This Morning, Washington Post, and CNN International. In 2023, Frazer was featured on the iconic Times Square billboard, was featured in the 2023 International Artists in Embassies exhibition, won numerous awards in the 2023 American Art Awards, and was included in the US Government’s Fifth National Climate Assessment report. Most recently, Frazer exhibited at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute, NY and with Agora Gallery, NY at the Chelsea International Fine Art Competition.
