MATT RAGEN: PHOTOGRAPHY

Matt Ragen is a fine art photographer and master printer in Seattle. His work covers subjects from urban ruins, travel and street portraiture and he often tries to separate the subject from the background using composition, light and shadows to have clarity. He works extensively with alternative processes such as platinum, cyanotype, gumoil, and others where the texture of an image becomes apparent and where the presence of his hands becomes part of the image. Each image within an alternative process series is unique as the hand-brushed borders and chemical processing result in differences in each image. His work has been featured by the Analog Forever magazine. His work has been exhibited in group shows at Photographic Center Northwest in Seattle and Lightbox Photographic in Astoria, Oregon.
