Debbie Bianchi is Seattle born and raised. Octopi caught her attention at an early age, drawn to their mysteriousness, high intelligence, and ability to shape shift, which she finds playful, fascinating, and strangely beautiful. Bianchi renders these creatures, which we know very little about, relaxed and undeniably peaceful for creatures typically on high alert.
Bianchi works in multiple mediums but mostly in acrylic on canvas or panel, sometimes incorporating mixed media pieces such as Japanese paper, found vintage labels, photos, and other sentimental ephemera. She has participated in many solo and group shows in the Northwest and New York City and her work is a part of private collections across the United States, Canada, Australia, South America, Germany, Denmark and Japan. Photos of her paintings have been published in several books including "Kaleidoscope" by Suzanne Simanaitis and "Look up Here: Five Years of NW Urban & Contemporary Art" by John and Michelle Osgood.
